CAPS Data Products Definition                                                                    Rev. 8/10/2001

The following data products are generated once each A–cycle (32 s).

IBS and ELS: Each table entry indicates the number of data products generated in each category. The 16 kbps entry always contains the maximum number of products available in a data category (listed in the column headings). Where this number is smaller than the 16 kbps entry, the data have been AVERAGED over adjacent channels and the entry indicates the resulting number of products. Multiplying adjacent entries in a given row gives the number of products (or bytes) in a particular mode (last column). Many of the data products formerly listed under “snapshot” are in fact collapsed products and are now listed that way.

IMS SINGLES, LOGICALS, and ION data products are generated according to the same rules as IBS and ELS---all data entries represent averages taken over adjacent channels.

IMS EN x TOF data products are formed differently. The TOF data products are AVERAGED over adjacent TOF channels. This is shown explicitly in the TOF table. Energy spectra collapses across TOF channels, on the other hand, are SUMMATIONS rather than averages.

Note that (*) indicates the definition of a telemetry mode implemented in the new flight software for ICO2 and Jupiter and (**) indicates the definition of telemetry modes currently in use (2/25/00).
